Cosmonaut class wings were officialy issued in 1967 and replaced previously worn by pilot-cosmonauts Air Force wings.With these wings cosmonauts were awarded in Soviet period for number of flights performed and long duration flights as well.
Some old generation cosmonauts (for example Alexei Leonov) still prefer old style Air Force pilot class wings on uniform.
