First time Launch Key used during presentations and awards of Cosmodrome Baikonur Launch Team officers in 25 years anniversary of Team, which was celebrated along with 25 years anniversary of First Space Launch of Sputnik 1957-1982. Along with key Launch Team officers received award medals commemorating this event.Front side of medal shows R-7 launching rocket.Reverse side of medals depicts space station and rocket Launch Key.
Later during big anniversay events Launch Key also presented to serving rocket forces veterans of Cosmodromes Baikonur and Plesetsk.Key given along with award medals issued by these Space ports.
