In October 1960, Myasishchev`s OKB-23 was incorporated as a branch office of Vladimir Chelomey`s OKB-52, working on space missile systems. And Vladimir Myasishchev meanwhile, was promoted to become a director of TSAGI (Central Aerodynamic and Hydrodynamic Institute).A full-size mock up of M-56 was built and the maiden flight was expected in mid 1963, but Government resolution stopped the works on project and M-56 designs existed only as models at Myasishchev Design Bureau.
