# myp099 VM-T Atlant space support transport with Energia tank

1/200 scale exclusive model of VM-T Atlant Myasishchev transport plane created by Myasishchev and Fedotov by modifying 3M Bison bomber. The VM-T Atlant was a development of the 3M/M-4 Bison bomber adopted for transporting oversized cargo in an overwing container. The aircraft was originally known as 3M-T and later as VM-T. The tail fin of the M-4 was replaced by two vertical stabilizers to accommodate the large overwing cargo container that was twice the diameter of the aircraft`s fuselage. The VM-T Atlant was originally developed for the Soviet `Buran` space shuttle program and was later complemented by the Antonov An-225 Mriya. Work on aircraft started in 1978 when Myasishchev proposed to solve problem of rapid transport of large space launchers and components to Soviet cosmodrome (spaceport) Baikonur. Both built aircraft subsequently mod to carry outsize pick-a-back loads.Notably Buran airframe or Energia rocket tank (as on original model)-40 tones, diameter 8 meters/26 ft on front/rear trusses above fuselage.
